Porches holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Porches offer up honey-coloured beaches, vineyard-speckled countryside, and authentic Algarvian dining.
Authentic Algarve
Porches’ southern edge is hemmed by golden-sand beaches and craggy limestone cliffs. Set off towards the north and you’ll be greeted by orange groves and vineyards speckled with traditional white-washed houses. It’s one of the coast’s quieter spots, so stays here show you the Algarve’s authentic side. But with towns like Armacao de Pera and Lagoa only 10 minutes away, nightlife and theme parks are still within easy reach.
Seafood, wine and pottery
Dotted throughout the surrounding countryside, you’ve got three of the things the Algarve does best – seafood restaurants, wineries and pottery shops. Days here are spent tasting the local tipple at vineyards and shopping for one-of-a-kind handcrafted ceramics, before retreating to a cosy, candlelit restaurant to dine on fish straight out of the sea.
Out and about
Armacao de Pera is less than 10 minutes down the road. This place is a firm favourite with families, thanks to its long strip of sand, beachfront bars and street entertainers. In the old town, you can watch fishermen haul their catch of the day and see the remains of a 17th-century fort. Elsewhere, you’ve got the Slide & Splash and Zoomarine theme parks, both of which are within 10 minutes’ drive.
