Holidays to Kiotari give you a lovely long beach, traditional tavernas and chilled-out bars – plus nearby Lindos can easily be seen in a day.
A low-key place
Kiotari is a small, relaxed place on the southeast coast of Rhodes. It’s relatively new to the holiday scene but it’s a fast learner – so you’ll find seafront hotels and a growing portfolio of bars and restaurants, not to mention a very long beach. It’s handy for trips to Lindos, and Rhodes Town isn’t out of the question either.
Super-sized beach
A big draw – all 4 kilometres of it – is the Blue Flag beach. One end is sandy, while the other has shingle, with calm water stretching between the 2. The sea gets busy with watersports – there’s everything from pedalos to parasailing – but plenty of sunloungers and a couple of beach bars mark out the more relaxed territory.
Island daytrips
Kiotari has made things easy when it comes to daytrips. Within about 10 minutes’ drive you’ve got lovely Asklipion, with its Medieval castle ruins, Byzantine church and folklore museum. And Gennadi – roughly the same distance – is all whitewashed houses and narrow alleyways. Slightly further afield, half an hour gets you to Lindos with its famous Acropolis. And in just over an hour you can be in Rhodes Town, famous for the Palace of the Grand Masters and the Street of Knights.
