Best time to go to Port Louis

The best time to visit Mauritius is between June and October, when the mercury hovers around 24˚C and the weather's at its driest. The country's cyclone season usually starts in December and ends around March, so we'd recommend avoiding these months. For the most part, cyclone's near Mauritius stay out at sea and don't affect the island. However, it's not uncommon for them to hit land, bringing strong winds and rain showers with them.

Just a heads-up, some of the beaches in Mauritius can be affected by increased amounts of seaweed from time to time. Don't worry, though, if you're staying in a hotel by a beach that's affected by the seaweed, the hotel staff will work to clear it as quickly as possible.

Passports & Visas

British passport holders don’t need a visa to enter Mauritius but must have a valid passport. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/mauritius/entry-requirements.

If you're going to Mauritius, you need to complete the online All-in-One Travel Form before your trip. You can complete the form from 30 days before your arrival, and we recommend doing it at least 24 hours before you travel. You can find the form on the Mauritius All-in-One Travel Form website. Once your form's submitted, you’ll be sent a QR code, and you'll need to keep this safe as you'll be asked to show it at check-in and on arrival in Mauritius. You can present this as either a printed copy or a digital version on your phone. The form is free to complete.

Don't forget to arrange your travel money and insurance before you go.

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. If you’re planning on diving, check your policy covers you for this. For the latest health and safety information, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/mauritius/health
