Make your Danish kroner go further on holiday

Off to Denmark? Make sure you get the right currency before you go. While some places in the bigger cities accept euros, you’re better off with Danish kroner, which is the official, and universally-accepted currency.

The exchange rate between the pound and the krone varies, but the average was roughly 7.93DKK to every £1 in early 2023.

Where to get kroner

You can easily order and collect your kroner from TUI at your nearest TUI Store, or if you prefer, you can buy it from TUI online.

You could also consider taking the multi-currency TUI Travel Money card – it’s safe and secure and carries up to 12 currencies while you’re travelling, including euros. You can use it just like a debit card in over 36 million locations worldwide. Fees will apply if using it to pay in kroner.

A guide to using kroner in Denmark

Budget on about 700DKK per day. That should cover an attraction or two, transport, a bit of shopping and a night out. For a more detailed budget plan, try our easy budget calculator here.

The jury’s out on whether or not to tip in Denmark. Danish law states that any service charge, including tips, must be built into the price at restaurants. Nonetheless, a little bit extra is always appreciated by waiting staff.
