Hotels with sea views in Europe

Wake up to ocean views with our pick of the best sea-facing hotels.
As far as views go, things don’t get much better than looking out across the ocean. Bag a great last-minute deal for a room with a sea view and you’ll find it hard to leave your balcony. Unless, of course, there’s also an infinity pool that spills out across the Adriatic, or a never-ending sand beach right next door... sorry for the spoilers. Read on for our pick of the four top hotels offering up unbeatable sea views.

EMERALD STUDIOS, THASSOS

If you’ve got your sights set on Greece this summer, add the Emerald Studios in Thassos to your list of contenders. Hidden on top of a hill decorated by a 400-year-old olive grove, the sea views from these studios are unbeatable. And, although the hotel’s perched up high, you’ll find Golden Beach - which boasts Blue Flag status - just a five-minute walk away. If you’d rather view the Adriatic from afar, you’ll be pleased to know that the pool here’s famed for its first-class sea views, too. It even comes with a bar that supplies snacks while you gaze out across the ocean. What more could you want?

ZIMBALI PLAYA SPA, COSTA DE ALMERIA

Rooms with sea views come in abundance at Zimbali Playa Spa, Costa de Almeria and that’s mainly because it’s right on the beach, with direct access to the water’s edge, or sit back and relax at the hotel’s tropical pool scene. Décor-wise, you’ll find elaborate domed roofs, bright orange walls and majestic archways waiting to impress. It’s just as impressive inside, too. Once you’ve dried off, head inside for an eye-catching African-themed grand lobby dressed in salmon-pink walls, tiled floors and vine-draped balconies.

KEKATOS STUDIOS, KEFALONIA

Beach hotels are pretty popular in Greece, but our favourite has to be the no-frills Kekatos Studios. Just five-minutes from the beach, these family-friendly spacious studios come up trumps for location. Each one comes with a sea view, as well as a kitchenette if you fancy grabbing some local ingredients and rustling up a meal or two. Walk just five minutes to the nearest Blue Flag beach, or stroll for 10 minutes to Lassi – a traditional town studded with atmospheric bars and tavernas.

HOTEL ANGELA, COSTA DEL SOL

Choose between the L-shaped Infinity pool cascading towards the Mediterranean or a never-ending beach at the adults-only Hotel Angela. But it’s not just about the beachfront setting at this luxury hotel. Fuengirola is also just a 15-minute walk away, where you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shops, nightlife and beaches to keep you busy. And, while this four-star number is small enough to feel like a boutique hotel, it’s got plenty of room options including sea view rooms which are available as an upgrade.
