SPOT SEA TURTLES IN TURKEY

On our River Dalyan Turtle Watching Tour, you’ll sail down the Turkey’s Dalyan River towards picture-perfect Iztuzu Beach and, if you’re lucky, spot freshwater turtles popping their friendly little heads above the surface. As you get closer to the sea, keep your eyes peeled for the rare loggerhead sea turtles. This stretch of sand can’t be developed on as it’s a popular nesting site. Year after year, loggerhead turtles wade up to shore and lay their eggs on the beach. The Turtle Rehabilitation Centre protects the nests and keeps an eye on the eggs, making sure that hatchlings get into the water safely. Go inside the centre and watch the rescued turtles splash around in the saltwater pools, and learn about the work they do.

GET BACK TO NATURE IN MEXICO

Leave the buzz of Cancun behind in and surround yourself with natural beauty. The Sian Ka’an excursion takes you to Sian Ka’an, known by ancient Mayan people as ‘Where the Sky Begins’. It’s not hard to see how it got this nickname – the area definitely has something heavenly about it. You’ll discover thick mangroves, colourful reefs and ancient archaeological sites. It’s both a Biosphere Reserve and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so you’ll find plenty here to fill your time. Visit the pocket-sized fishing village of Punta Allen and zip across the waves in a boat with local fisherman. As you explore along the coast, look out for dolphins and sea turtles in the water below, and birds like toucans and pelicans in the sky above.

GET A TASTE OF TRUE LANZAROTE

Lanzarote has so much more to offer than a string of first-class beaches. Leave the beach behind and explore the island’s lunar landscapes on our Lanzarote Island Tour. You’ll veer off the beaten track to see Jameos del Algua subterranean salt lake. Then, you'll take in the volcanic south, making a stop at an active volcano that’s the crowning jewel of Timanfaya National Park. Afterwards, you’ll head north through the Valley of a Thousand Palms' and drop in at an aloe vera plantation. Here you’ll learn about how the plant is harvested and used to make skincare products that contribute to the region’s economy. You can’t get a true taste of a destination without sampling the local tipple, so a tasting at a traditional winery is also part of the package.

CYCLE THROUGH MULTI-COLOURED MARRAKECH

Book yourself a bike tour using Pikala, and cycle around Marrakech on your own or with a local guide, discovering parts of the city like the famous Jemaa el-Fna square and beyond. As well as burning calories en route, you can feel good about helping young Moroccans. Pikala's trained 90 young men and women in bike guiding, maintenance and management with the support of the TUI Care Foundation. It doesn’t only give these teens jobs, it also helps them develop transferable skills to build their future careers. This training is invaluable in a country where there’s a high youth unemployment rate, and only 15% of first-grade students graduate from high school. Plus, you’ll get to pedal past some hidden gems that have otherwise passed you by...
