Family holidays are great, but if you’re in need of some peace and quiet, and a break from the daily nine to five, an adults-only cruise is just the ticket. Our ship, Marella Explorer 2 comes up trumps in this department. The whole ship’s exclusively reserved for grown-ups. Think less kids’ club and splash pools, and more spas and sophisticated dining. Here’s what to expect onboard…

Relax at a top-of-the-range spa

Marella Explorer 2’s wellness centre – Oceans Spa – goes above and beyond the norm, with signature treatments, a beauty salon and a full range of fitness classes. You can even sign up for a special massage, designed exclusively for Marella Cruises. If you fancy some romantic alone time, you can go for a couples’ suite with a private sauna. And the sea-view relaxation room is the pièce de résistance. Plus, The Veranda – a chic, daybed-loaded terrace – is spread over two decks, and you can get drinks delivered straight to your lounger. It’s perfect for days at sea, or for some afternoon relaxation once you’ve finished exploring on shore.

Wine and dine in a choice of bars and restaurants

Just like Marella Explorer, you’ll find restaurants like The Mediterranean, Latitude 53, Vista and Snack Shack. Marella favourites Kora La and Surf & Turf make the cut, too. And foodies will be in their element at The Dining Club – one to keep up your sleeve for date night. The bars come thick and fast, as well. There’s a Brit-style boozer, a bar specialising in bubbles, and plenty of laidback day spots. Just because there’s not a child in sight doesn’t mean the entertainment’s taken a hit, either. Marella Explorer 2 pulls it out the bag with a huge Broadway Show Lounge and Indigo – a bar, club and casino all rolled into one. What’s more, Marella Explorer 2 is All Inclusive – just like all our other ships – so you’ll have plenty of drinks to choose from, including selected beers, wines and cocktails.

Make tracks around new places

Marella Explorer 2 drops anchor at plenty of destinations that are perfect for adults. Marella Explorer 2 homeports out of Dubrovnik this summer, and there’s a choice of itineraries to choose from. You can set sail for Greece and tick off Corfu, Crete and Katakolon – the latter puts you within a 30-minute drive of Olympia, the site of the first Olympics. Or, sail around the Adriatic Sea to stop off in Italy’s Anacona, Montenegro’s Bar and Split in Croatia.
