Tap into tradition with a riad dinner

For an authentic Moroccan experience, dining in a riad is a must. Decorated with geometric carvings and jewel-coloured tiles, the riad's opulent yet cosy vibe sets the stage for a memorable evening filled with food, drinks and entertainment. On arrival, you'll be served a welcome cocktail, which you can sip as you relax by the courtyard and interior gardens. Before you take your seat for a full-on foodie experience, you can try your hand at a traditional orange blossom hot water handwashing ceremony. Then, it’s time to tuck into a variety of local and European and international dishes expertly cooked using souk-sourced spices and fresh ingredients. To round off the evening, you’ll sit back and hear the smooth sounds of a lute player.

Ride a camel through Marrakech's palm groves

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city on a camel through Marrakech's palm groves. Join a guided tour on a two-hour trek, following in the footsteps of tribesmen in the desert-like landscape and traditional Amazigh villages. If you’re a newbie, don’t worry as these gentle giants will slowly transport you with ease with a friendly camel handler there to help you at every stage. At the midway point, you'll take a short break for a favourite Moroccan pastime – sipping refreshing mint tea. And, by the end of the journey, you'll know the individual, and sometimes mischievous, personalities of the camels, too.

Become a Tajine expert with a cooking class

Uncover the art of tajine-making and navigate vibrant markets in a traditional cooking class. To kick off this experience, you’ll learn the Arabic words for the ingredients you'll need to cook the tajine. Then it’s off to the souks with your guide to shop for fresh ingredients such as meat, veggies, herbs and spices. You’ll take your ingredients back to the riad to cook side-by-side with a chef who’ll teach you all the secrets of local cooking traditions. From pastilla – a sweet and savoury pie – to tajine, a slow-cooked speciality, you’ll take home all the tips and tricks you need to impress at dinner parties and recreate the dishes long after your trip ends.

Take on the Atlas Mountains

Fancy yourself an early bird? Start your day energised with a trip to the Atlas Mountains. Guided by a local expert, you’ll head out into the quiet of the Atlas Mountains early in the morning to avoid the heat of the midday sun. Then, you'll stop at Alma village to take in the sweeping views as well as the Tamzargout Oasis. Once you arrive at the Amazigh village, Aksri, you'll try a traditional breakfast with olives, cheeses, bread and more. Once you’re fuelled up, you'll set off on a peaceful two-hour trail to the mountains, passing by deep valleys, soaring peaks and rocky stretches.

Plus, why not take your trip to the next level with an everything included TUI Tour? Our Tracks of the Nomads tour takes you on a ready-made journey through Atlas Mountains and covers a host of activities from a desert tent stay to 4x4 tours and more.
