CALA CANYERS: THE PRIVATE PARADISE

Found in Palamos, just 30 minutes from Tossa de Mar, Cala Canyers is one to put at the top of your beach-hopping itinerary. This secluded beach is only accessible by foot or boat, making it feel like your own private paradise. But don't let the seclusion fool you – Cala Canyers isn’t short on gorgeous views, and the sight of a sole stone bridge floating over the turquoise waters will remind you of a snippet from a romcom you’ve seen before.

Be sure to pack your own snacks and drinks before you head here, as there are no restaurants or cafés nearby – which just adds to the remote island-feel. And more adventurous beachgoers can hike up to the nearby lighthouse for unforgettable views of the coastline.

PLATJA SANT FRANCESC: THE PIRATE'S BAY

In the town of Blanes, Platja Sant Francesc is a stunning beach with a superb view of the medieval castle of Sant Joan. Dating back to the mid-thirteenth century, the castle once belonged to the Viscount of Cabrera and was built to keep watch over pirates. If you’re a sucker for a good view, this serves as the perfect vantage point to admire the Costa Brava’s beauty. From here, you can also see the Serra de las Gavarres, the coastal mountain range, the Montseny, and on a clear day, the Montjuïc mountain.

To get to Platja Sant Francesc why not follow the scenic route on foot via the coastal path from the Marimurtra Botanical Garden? Once you arrive, you'll be surrounded by pine trees and pristine arcs of fine sand. It's a great spot for a picnic, and during the summer months, you’ll be lucky to spot cook-offs, traditional Spanish dance competitions, and vibrant markets down the promenade.

CALA BANYS: THE REFLECTIVE SANDS

Lloret de Mar is home to many beautiful beaches, but there's one that not many know about. Tucked away between rugged cliffs and dense greenery is Cala Banys. The calm waters and rocky landscape make it a perfect for spot for swimming, meditation and quiet reflection, far from the hustle and bustle of the popular and colourful town. As the sun goes down, the cove becomes even more captivating with shimmering reflections of the water on the sand.

After a day of exploring, mosey down to satisfy your appetite at the local favourite - La Terrassa del Bella. This rustic tapas restaurant gives you a taste of old charm, located in one of the oldest buildings in Lloret de Mar. Just a ten-minute walk from the beachfront, it’s a great place to enjoy a leisurely meal with a glass of wine. This tapas haven is a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life are just off the beaten path.

PLATJA DE CASTELL: THE HISTORIC BAY

In the heart of the Montgrí Massif Natural Park, just 30 minutes from Tossa de Mar lies Platja de Castell. Home to the remains of an Iberian settlement dating back to the 6th century, this one’s for the history buffs. Aside from its rich history, this beach is known for its unspoiled sands with no development allowed, making it the perfect film set for several Spanish blockbusters. If you’re brave enough to explore the nearby forest, you’ll also find an artist hut built for Salvador Dali.

When it's time to refuel, pop down to the village of L'Escala for some delicious local cuisine. El Roser 2 is a great choice for fresh seafood and traditional Catalan dishes. Here, you’ll also be lucky enough to dine overlooking one of the world’s most beautiful bays – the Bay of Roses.
