What are the restrictions on smoking in Mexico?
It’s prohibited to smoke in public places with a penalty of up to £150.
This includes smoking in patios, terraces, balconies, amusement parks, playgrounds, sports areas, hotels, beaches, entertainment centres, courts, stadiums, arenas, shopping malls, markets, hospitals, clinics, churches or places of religious worship, restaurants and bars.
However, our resort teams have advised that there are designated smoking areas in hotels for customers, which is permitted within the regulations.
E-cigarettes and refills - It’s important to note that it’s prohibited to take e-cigarettes and refills into Mexico - security checks are in place when you arrive, and your luggage will be scanned. Anyone found to have one of the previously mentioned will have this confiscated. It’s worth knowing that you cannot purchase e-cigarettes in Mexico.
