Delivering a lazy harbour and a laid-back beach, holidays to Gundogan see to it you take your foot off the pedal.
Around a 30-minute drive from Bodrum Town, Gundogan is one of the most unspoilt spots on the Bodrum peninsula. This seaside town is set against a backdrop of craggy hillsides and surrounded by pine woods and tangerine groves.
Gundogan has 2 big draws. One is the beach, a gentle curve of golden sand topped with thatched parasols and sunloungers. The other is the harbour. Pull up a chair in one of the waterside restaurants and you can watch traditional Turkish gulets, with their bat-wing sails, come and go from their moorings.
Sightseeing is simple in Gundogan. Catch a boat from the harbour and you’ll be on Big Rabbit Island in 5 minutes, where you can walk to the ruins of a Hellenistic theatre and a 13th-century tower. In the hills behind the town, meanwhile, the remains of some rock tombs make great targets for hikers.
