Son Bou holidays take you to nature reserve landscapes and historical ruins, and they’re set right by the longest beach in Menorca. Tree-topped hills and sandy sweeps are the backdrop to your holiday pics on a south-coast Balearic escape, and holidays to Son Bou Menorca are no exception to the rule.
When you visit Son Bou resort in Menorca, you can expect wooded hillside scenery that tumbles down to a pea-green nature reserve and a long sweep of biscuit-coloured sand. Son Bou Town is in pretty close proximity to Mahon (around 25 minutes’ drive away) and it takes about 40 minutes to drive to Ciutadella.
If you’re a fan of the sand, you’ll love Playa Son Bou. It’s the longest beach in Menorca at over two kilometres, and it’s dotted with a few beach bars and accessible walkways. The coastline’s backed by sand dunes, giving it a quiet, away-from-it-all atmosphere. And outdoorsy types will love that it’s plotted close to Prat de Son Bou nature area.
From family oriented bars and restaurants with varied children’s menus to beaches with family-centric facilities, this resort knows a thing or two about holidays the whole clan will love. Son Bou’s accommodation often has spacious family rooms, and if you fancy a family activity, you can hop on the resort mini-train’s 45-minute circuit.
You won’t be short of things to do in Son Bou – think visits to Gothic churches, Moorish palaces and 5th-century Christian basilicas. Alaior daytrips take you on a 15-minute drive inland, and when you get there, you reach an old town that was founded in 1304. Sticking along the historical lines, you can also visit the Torre d’en Gaumes prehistoric ruins on your way to Alaior – it’s known for its Flintstones-style ruins.
