Calella de la Costa holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Calella de la Costa are geared towards laid-back family breaks with restaurants, bars and shopping all in one place. And with Barcelona nearby, you're taken care of for beautiful cities, too.
Beaches and old quarters
Calella de la Costa on Spain’s sunny Costa Brava is a two-sided town where a traditional old quarter vies for attention with a long stretch of golden sand and a bustling town centre. All over there’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – the bars and restaurants are geared towards a laid-back trip, but there are discos and clubs too. Plus the main shopping street is completely pedestrianised so it has that market feel.
3-in-1 beaches
Calella de la Costa’s three beaches blend into one three-kilometre stretch down Catalonia's coastline. There’s Garbi, Les Roques and Gran Playa to choose from – the last one being the main beach. All three are Blue Flag spots with lots of sunloungers and umbrellas. It’s all quite lively, with lots of families – but if you’re after a quieter beach, Cala Treumal, set in a beautiful pine-fringed bay, is an easy 25-minute drive away. There’s also a beach restaurant there to grab lunch.
Daytrips to Barcelona
The iconic city of Barcelona is just 30 minutes’ drive – close enough for more than 1 visit. For shopping and dining there’s La Rambla, a long street filled with street performers and eccentrics – it’s very much the heart of the city. There’s a double-bill of Gaudi, too. The architect designed the vast Sagrada Familia cathedral and Parc Güell, a weirdly gorgeous landscaped park filled with buildings straight out of Medieval fairytales.
