Roses holidays

A buzzing seaside resort in a stunning wide bay, colourful and historic Rosas brings you the best of the Costa Brava, and then some.
Beach breaks to Roses
As the Costa Brava’s only west-facing resort, this town steals away the sunsets for a private viewing over the Gulf of Roses. Its beaches also top the rest, with long stretches of sand carrying Blue Flag status that the rest of the region struggles to rival. Inland, the hiking trails of Aiguamolls de l’Emporda and the secret swimming spots of Cabo de Creus Natural Park are two of Catalonia’s main attractions. The latter’s also home to a mysterious ancient megalithic stone monument. For a more modern, touristic take, Roses’ historical heritage as an old Greek colony still sings. La Ciudadela is a famous 11th-century fortress, which turns into a concert venue by night. Over summer, the Citadel of Roses plays host to the Festival Sons del Mon, which showcases flamenco displays and Catalan rock music.
Take in the sunset from Trinity Castle
The Bay of Roses is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, and it’s even endorsed by UNESCO. One of its best vistas can be found from Roses’ Castillo de la Trinitat, at the Poncella tip. Built in the 16th century, this Renaissance fortress was almost entirely destroyed during the War of Independence and each room now tells a story of the role it had to play. Soak up this place’s history and the last of the sun’s rays as it sinks over the bay.
