A hushed hillside village

Chayofa sits pretty on a hilltop in west Tenerife - an area known for its rugged cliffs and ample greenery. The village has a handful of restaurants and a couple of supermarkets, plus panoramic views of the sea and the nearby mountains. Add quiet cobbled streets and Canarian pine trees into the mix, and this place seems like it’s miles away from the island’s more touristy resorts. Bustling bars and Blue Flag beaches

Drive 10 minutes to the coast and you’ll have your pick of some of Tenerife’s top-rated beaches, where you can lay out your towel on shortbread-coloured sands. Los Cristianos beach is your nearest one – it’s got calm waters and a pretty shop-lined promenade. If you’d like to meet some of Chayofa’s famous friends, head to Costa Adeje or Playa de las Americas. Both have a cocktail of laid-back bars and lively nightclubs, so you can pair a beach day with a night out on the town.

From Siam Park to Mount Teide

Adventure-seekers don’t need to go far for a fun day out when holidaying here. You’re in prime position to splash around in one of the world’s top-rated waterparks. Siam Park is less than 10 minutes’ drive away from Chayofa, and it’s got over 30 waterslides, wave pools and a lazy river. Farther-flung adventures are on the cards if you fancy a change of scenery, too. Take a cable car to the top of Mount Teide National Park or mooch around museums in the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife – both are around an hour’s drive away.
