San Anton holidays put you right in the centre of Malta's best bits, with Mdina and Valetta less than a 30-minute drive away.
San Anton’s more an area than a town, and adds to the patchwork of villages, towns and citrus orchards that make up the island’s mid region of Attard. It’s perfectly placed to take advantage of the various sights that pepper the island – like Mdina. This city’s a 15-minute drive away and has a quiet, old world style.
Those interested in history will love Malta, and the area of San Anton – and its neighbours, like Ta’ Qali and Lija – are a history hound’s paradise. People have populated Attard since 3000BC, and you can visit haunting catacombs and tombs, or step into one of the area’s many Medieval churches.
This place has got a stylish edge to it, perhaps because it’s where the president of Malta lives – in the Grand Master’s Palace. You can visit the San Anton Gardens here, and might even catch a glimpse of the president pottering round them if you’re lucky.
San Anton itself doesn’t have any beaches. However you are never far away from a refreshing swim on this island. The huge swathe of coast that sweeps down St. Paul’s Bay and into Salina Bay has an array of coves and inlets and includes Bugibba, a large resort with all the attractions that go with it. If you aren’t too keen on rocky beaches, Mellieha to the northwest and Golden Bay to the west are great for sand lovers and have plenty of watersports for the active.
