Family holidays to Malta

Malta might be the smallest island nation in the Mediterranean, but it’s no stranger to family holidays.

Beach days at Mellieha Bay

Mellieha Bay is the most popular stretch of sand in Malta. It’s also the longest. Shallow waters mean that children can paddle safely, while a floating play area keeps them happy. Food-wise, lots of snack bars and laid-back cafés fringe the sands. A great hotel pick is the Hotel Mellieha Bay, which lays out kids’ pools and a family-friendly restaurant right by the Mediterranean Sea.

Travel Malta, Gozo and Sicily

The Popeye Village theme park near Mellieha Bay is the original set of the Eighties film, doling out water trampolines, boat rides and a sundeck.

Children will get to meet characters like Olive Oyl, Captain Bluto and Popeye, too. For a day trip that really packs a punch, opt for Gozo. Or there’s always Sicily — it’s only a 90-minute ferry ride away from Malta.
