Plimmiri holidays

Rhodes Town

Holidays to Plimmiri are all about stripping things back to basics – it's just you, a beach and all the freshly-caught seafood you can think of.

Unspoilt setting

Plimmiri enjoys a quiet spot near Rhodes’ tip. With a long curve of sand and a single roadside taverna, this place takes secluded to another level. You won’t find any of the usual marks of tourism here. Instead, it serves up a slice of blissfully undeveloped Greece, with just shrubland and beach as far as the eye can see.

Big on beach

What it might lack in restaurants, Plimmiri makes up for in beach. The sands here unravel for four kilometres – taking in some impressive dunes on the way. You’ll rarely have to share your towel space with any crowds, either, bar a few divers heading out to the off-shore wreck. Plus, there’s an authentic taverna across the road, where octopuses are hung up to dry, and just-caught fish is grilled in front of you.

Exploring the area

A 15-minute drive inland will take you to pretty villages like Lachania and Kattavia. Both are quintessentially Greek, with photogenic blue-shuttered houses. Head back to the coast, meanwhile, and Lindos is 40 minutes’ drive away. The main attraction here is the centuries-old acropolis, but you’ll see plenty more historic sights with a wander around the tiny, car-free streets.
