Nei Pori’s plotted right on the coast of the Olympus Riviera, in mainland Greece. Behind it, you’ve got bars, restaurants and shops. And for your culture fix, you can mosey around the cream-coloured Church of St Marina, which has two bell towers and an opulent, gold-splashed interior.

All about the beach

If you like to spend your holidays within stone-skimming distance of the sea, Nei Pori will be just your cup of tea – the village’s beach is, without a doubt, its biggest draw. In true Greek style, it’s a wide belt of biscuit-coloured sand topped with a blanket of sunloungers and parasols and lapped by window-clear waters. You won’t need to worry about battling for a good sunbathing spot, as the beach’s size means it rarely feels crowded. And, like many in this neck of the woods, it’s been awarded Blue Flag status.

Different daytrips

Daytrips from Nei Pori let you see a different side to Greece. One must-visit spot is the traditional village of Paleos Panteleimon, about 20 minutes’ drive away, where the restored houses are made of Olympus stone and look like something out of a fairytale. A little further afield but still less than an hour away by car, is Mount Olympus itself. If you fancy a bit of a hike, you can check out its streams, gorges, waterfalls and interconnected peaks on a trek to the 3,000-metre summit.
