Kitzbuhel, Austria

Fancy an alpine getaway that turns up the style? A holiday to Kitzbühel could be just the thing.

Glitzy Kitz

Kitzbühel brings a dash of cosmopolitan city style to the Austrian Alps. We’re talking streets lined with fashionable boutiques, bars and coffee spots, where you can sip, stroll and window-shop to your heart’s content. You’ll be filling up your camera roll as you walk too. Around every corner is a scene worth snapping, from cobbled squares to rows of colourful Medieval buildings. And wherever you go, you can see the summits of rugged mountains peaking above the rooftops.

Peaks and lakes

There’s no shortage of natural beauty on your doorstep here. Peak-top photo opps and a choice of walking trails are just a lift ride away up the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain (chat to our reps in resort who can sort you out with buying the right lift ticket). And in the alpine flower garden, follow winding paths through bloom-filled meadows, where over 300 different types of plant add their own colours and scents to the scene. Head down to the valley floor and you can add an outdoor dip to your day at Lake Schwarzsee. Or if you prefer to keep dry, how about bobbing about in a pedalo or on a stand-up paddleboard instead?

Local life

There’s a packed calendar of events all summer long in Kitzbühel, from classical music concerts in July to a rock music festival in August. The Pura Vida Kitzbühel adds to the holiday mood on Thursday nights, with street performers and stalls where you can try tasty local specialities. And with things like the Generali Open Tennis tournament and Europe Triathlon Cup on the cards too, there’s plenty for sports fans to get excited about as well.
