Any excuse for a cocktail and we are there. So, imagine our surprise when we discovered it’s National Mojito Day on Monday 11 July.
And when it comes to cocktails, there’s one that stands head and shoulders – and, well, cocktail umbrellas – above the rest. The beloved Mojito.
A refreshing concoction of Caribbean white rum, fresh mint, lime, sugar and soda water all lovingly muddled together with heaps of crushed ice, there’s no other cocktail quite like it. Invented in Cuba in the 16th century and originally known as the ‘El Drake’, after its founder, explorer Sir Francis Drake, it’s now officially the UK’s most popular cocktail.
Which is lucky, then because our luxury Sensatori Resort bars are perfect for cocktail hour. And in honour of National Mojito Day, the spotlight’s on Sensatori Resort Mexico and its deliciously diverse Mojito menu.
Sensatori Resort Mexico’s Mojito Lounge is the best place for a sundowner. With breathtaking views of the Caribbean sound tracked by a DJ spinning chill-out beats, your only problem will be which of the 18 – yes, 18 – speciality Mojitos to choose from on our menu. As any Mojito fan worth their mint, lime and sugar will now know – and if you’ve been paying attention - the key ingredients to any good Mojito are just that: mint, sugar, lime – plus a good slug of rum and lashings of crushed ice. But we’ve given ours a unique Sensatori Resort Mexico twist…
Get into the holiday spirit with these Sensatori Resort Mojito recipes.
The sweet and sour tang of fresh kiwi is the perfect complement to this refreshing drink.
A fruity twist on the classic. Juicy strawberries make the ideal accompaniment.
Invigorating cucumber ups the ante in this refreshing sundowner. Plus, cucumber’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Making it almost good for you, right?
The ultimate thirst-quencher, mouth-watering watermelon hits the spot as a subtle addition to this cocktail.
