CROATIA GAINS MOST HASHTAGS ON INSTAGRAM THIS SUMMER AS MID-HAUL DESTINATIONS PROVE EVER-POPULAR
- Social research by the UK’s number one holiday company, TUI, reveals the most popular destination hashtags used on Instagram this summer.
- Greece, Croatia and Cyprus confirmed as the most popular destination hashtags for social media savvy millennials, with #Croatia gaining the most increased mentions of over 270% from the first three months of the year.
- Made in Chelsea and Mamma Mia 2 were filmed in Croatian islands.
06 Aug 2018 – ‘#Travelpreneurs’ and #Digitalnomads take note, as statistics from the World’s number one tour operator, TUI, reveals the top destination hashtags used by Generation Y this summer.
Research by the holiday company shows a significant increase in European destination hashtags between Q1 and Q2 this year. With holidaymakers getting a taste of African Sunshine in Europe this summer, the results show how travellers no longer need to go further afield to score those picture perfect moments.
Greece, the land of Mythology, landed top spot for most mentions on Instagram, securing over 1.4 million hashtags alone between May and July 2018. Picturesque Croatia closely followed with over 759,000 Instagram mentions and a substantial 270% increase from May – June vs Jan – March.
Finally scenic Cyprus scored third place with over 249,000 mentions on Instagram and an impressive 77% increase from Q1 vs Q2.
