Everything you need to know about Pandora – World of Avatar at Walt Disney World Resort

Love the movie Avatar? Get the lowdown on Pandora: World of Avatar at Walt Disney World Resort.
Pandora – The World of Avatar at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is a 12-acre land inspired by James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster, Avatar. Here you’ll encounter special effects and cutting-edge animatronics that bring the world to life.

On the line-up of attractions, you’ll find Avatar Flight of Passage – a simulator ride where you learn to fly with a mountain banshee, and Na'vi River Journey – a boat ride through the Pandora landscape, featuring glowing plants and rainforest creatures from the film. You’ll also find a Na'vi-inspired eatery and a Pandoran bar serving out-of-this-world cocktails in this land – how cool is that?

In a Disney first, Pandora – The World of Avatar has no Disney-branded merchandise, attraction marquees or Mickey Mouse images to preserve its film-inspired theme. Plus, the area features music based on James Horner and Simon Franglen’s original Avatar score – so you’ll be guaranteed a truly immersive experience.

Na’vi River Journey

This family-friendly boat ride through the neon forests of Pandora will have you reaching for your camera sharpish. The attraction takes twists and turns through vibrantly coloured plants and past otherworldly creatures you’ll recognise from the film. The most jaw-dropping part of the ride? When you come face-to-face with the Shaman of Songs – a tribal leader of the Na’vi people. It’s so lifelike, we’re sure you’ll want to stop the boat and get a closer look.

Avatar Flight Of Passage

Experience the Na’vi way of life on Avatar Flight of Passage as you ride on the back of a banshee. The ride’s a 3D motion simulator – but thanks to Disney magic – you’ll swear it’s real. Once matched with your Avatar, don a pair of 3D specs and take to Pandora’s skies, flying past those weirdly wonderful floating mountains you’ve seen while queuing. Psst! If this is on your must-ride list, you can buy a Lightning Lane single pass so you can lock in this must-do attraction.

Stand-out scenery

Although there are only two rides, your trip to Pandora doesn’t have to be short-lived. The area’s a great place to stroll around, thanks to its eye-popping scenery of floating mountains, cascading waterfalls and bioluminescent (or glow-in-the-dark if you’re not down with the lingo) flowers.

Na’vi food and gifts

From dining to shopping, the Avatar theme continues in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Super-healthy dishes are on the menu here, like the vegetable goat’s cheese frittata and tropical Pandoran forest fruits. There’s also the option to create your own Satu’li Bowl – our top pick to fuel an afternoon of adventures. Want to pick up a souvenir?
