6 reasons why Bulgaria should be your next family holiday

Kid-friendly beaches and family resorts – find out why Bulgaria works for families.
If you’re thinking about where to take the clan for your next holiday, add Bulgaria to your shortlist. The eastern European country’s premier resort Sunny Beach combines the gorgeous stretch of sand, fun activities for all the family and our brand-new Family Life resort which opens in 2017.

1. THE PERFECT FAMILY HOTEL

Our unique Family Life hotels are designed with features and amenities for all generations – from babies to teenagers to grandparents. And, making its debut in 2017, is the brand-new Family Life Nevis Resort in Sunny Beach. Fresh-from-the-wrapping, rooms are bright, modern and contemporary, and you can stay in big family suites to make everything easier. There are tonnes of food options, including a tapas-style Taverna and grill restaurant, to please even the fussiest of eaters. And activities include the likes of water polo, table tennis and a soft play area for kids.

We can almost guarantee that you won’t want to leave the hotel. But if you do, here are some other reasons to head to Bulgaria…

2. THERE’S A HUGE BLUE FLAG KID-FRIENDLY BEACH

Sunny Beach is an 8-kilometre stretch of soft fine sand that’s been awarded Blue Flag status so it’s guaranteed to be clean and well kept. Even if you’re not a serious sunbather, there are plenty of activities and watersports to keep you busy, and the water of the Black Sea is less salty with no deep trenches, so safe for all swimmers. If you fancy a spot of shopping, you can head to nearby Flower Street to stock up on souvenirs, and there are plenty of slides, inflatable rides and playgrounds to keep little ones entertained.

3. UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES

Nessebar is just 10-minutes from Sunny Beach, and has a chock-full of Byzantine buildings, 19th-century town houses and Roman ruins for you to explore when you need a culture fix. The old part of town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and you could spend hours exploring the crumbling fortress walls, temples and Ottoman-style Medieval Basilica.

4. WATERPARKS

It wouldn’t be a family holiday without a fun day at a waterpark, and Sunny Beach has two for you to choose from. Action Aquapark has around 30 water attractions for both adults and kids including slides like Kamikaze and Hydrochute, plus there’s a mini-zoo and lazy river for those who prefer to take it slow. There’s also the pirate-themed Aqua Paradise which is home to the longest slide in Bulgaria, plus spa-like features for adults including hydrotherapy, whirlpool and massage. There are free shuttles along the main road in Sunny Beach to both, so you won’t have any problems getting there

5. PIRATE CRUISE

Take the whole family on a Jack Sparrow-style swashbuckling adventure across the Black Sea. You’ll board Sunny Beach’s very own pirate vessel, the Tattoo ship, and sail along the coast with a motley crew. There’s pirate-themed games for little ones, including face painting and pirate makeovers, and parents can relax on deck. A feast fit for a pirate will be served on deck and you’ll also get the chance to swim in the sea with a waterslide for kids to play on.

6. KHAN’S TENT

This unique Vegas-style evening dinner show is popular with all ages. You’ll enjoy a four-course meal with half a bottle of wine per person, plus live music and entertainment. The stunning venue is also high in the hills so you’ll have amazing panoramic views of Sunny Beach and the surrounding area.
