Tour: Icons of India – Tigers and the Taj Mahal

This eight-night tour does the double – you’ll get to tick off some of India’s big-ticket sights, as well as a healthy dose of under-the-radar attractions. After a chilled day to get settled in your Delhi hotel following an overnight flight, you’ll start your third day with a tour of the city. Your stops include colourful Old Delhi, India’s second-biggest mosque and the ancient Qutb Minar complex. Next, it’s time to travel to Agra to visit its namesake, red-tinted fort. Then, you’ll settle down in the pretty grounds of the Taj Khema Hotel for high tea, with views of the Taj Mahal to boot. Your destination on day five is the city of Sawai Madhopur, where you’ll have an evening of free time. Then on day six, you’ll join not one, but two safari drives of Ranthambore National Park to spot Bengal tigers. After a sleep, you’ll move on to Jaipur, and hit up the Johri Bazaar for some serious souvenir shopping – you can pick up everything from sarees to spices. On your eighth day, a full-day city tour will help you get to know Jaipur even more. Then, it’s back to Delhi for some free time before your flight home the next day.

Tour: Classical India

This 11-night tour ticks off days out in Delhi, a journey to Jaipur and a boat ride to the spot where Buddha first taught. You’ll fly overnight to Delhi, once you’re there you’ll have some free time to relax, before meeting up with your tour guide later that evening. Your tour really kicks off the next day with a city tour of Delhi – the agenda includes a rickshaw ride through Old Delhi’s narrow streets. You’ll make a move to Jaipur on day four, before exploring it’s pink palaces on day five. We reckon day six will be one of your highlights, as you’ll drive to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. You’ll drive to Lucknow – India’s cultural hub – on day seven, before heading out for a city tour the next morning. From here, it’s over to Varanasi by train, before taking a boat ride to Sarnath on day 10 – it’s the spot where Buddha taught his first lesson. You’ll fly back to Delhi on day 11, ready for your return flight to the UK the following day.
