VISIT THE PRYAMIDS OF GIZA AND THE SPHINX

The first things that spring to mind when you think of Egypt are the pyramids and Great Sphinx of Giza. These imposing structures really are worth travelling for, and lucky for you, they’re within easy reach of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Book a Cairo tour and you can spend the day exploring, snap some shots of the world-famous landmarks and have a nosey at the artefacts in the Museum of Cairo.

GO DIVING AND SNORKELLING

You might think Egypt’s best bits are all on land, but what lies beneath the Red Sea’s surface is just as good. Take a dip and you’ll find kaleidoscopic coral reefs and plenty of sea life. If you head over to the eco-tourism haven, Mahmya, you might even spot a dolphin or two. The best bit? SEE THE CITY OF SHARM EL SHEIKH

The cloud-prodding twin marble minarets of the Alsahaba Mosque and El Samaeyeen Cathedral are worlds away from the postcard-ready beach scenes we all know so well. Plus, the King Tut Museum is packed full of artefacts that tell the story of the legendary boy pharaoh, and a visit to Naama Bay for a spot of souvenir shopping is a must. TRY A DESERT SAFARI

If you’ve thought everything so far sounds a bit tame, then this one’s for you. Thrill-seekers will find just what they’re looking for on a desert safari. Picture yourself speeding through the desert plains and sand dunes at sunset on quad bikes. It doesn’t stop there either, as you can even ride a camel. Once you’ve worked up an appetite on your adrenaline-fuelled adventure, you’ll finish the day off with a barbeque dinner.

TAKE A TRIP TO LUXOR

There’s so much to see in Luxor that trips here feel like stepping back in time. See The Colossi of Memnon – two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III – and the Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of famous Egyptian Pharaohs like Seti, Ramses, Tutmoses, and Tut Ankh Amun. You’ve also got the temple of Queen Hatshepsut to see.
