Can I bring a battery-powered mobility scooter or wheelchair onboard the river cruise ship?
Due to the design of our river cruise ships:
- Narrow doorways and corridors prevent the use of mobility scooters, walkers, and wheelchairs onboard
- All decks are connected by staircases only (no elevators), with the exception of the TUI Aria which has a lift between deck's 1-3
- Guests must be able to walk up and down stairs without assistance
Port Access Challenges
When docking in ports:
- Ships may berth alongside other vessels
- Disembarking often requires crossing gangplanks between ships
- You may need to navigate multiple staircases to reach the shore
Destination Considerations
Many European river cruise destinations feature:
- Historic cobblestone streets
- Uneven paving
- Steep inclines and steps
- Limited accessible pathways
Alternative Options
If these limitations would affect your travel experience, we recommend:
- Exploring our ocean cruise options with accessible cabins
- Considering our resort holidays with accessibility features
- Contacting our specialists at 0204 578 0993 to discuss your specific needs
