Can I take oxygen on my flight?
Medical Oxygen Cylinders
Medical oxygen cylinders are permitted under these conditions:
- Maximum weight: 5 kg per cylinder
- Maximum quantity: 5 cylinders per passenger
- Required documentation: Doctor's letter stating medical necessity
- Advance notification: Must inform TUI Airways at time of booking
- Safety requirement: Valves must be protected from damage
Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs)
POCs are electronic devices that provide oxygen-enriched air and can be used as an alternative to cylinders.
Approved POCs
- Can be used throughout the entire flight, including take-off and landing
- Must be on TUI Airways' approved device list
- Require a doctor's letter confirming medical necessity
- Must have sufficient battery life for the entire journey plus delays
Non-Approved POCs
Can be transported only if:
- Not used at any time during the flight
- Empty and free of pressure
- Battery is removed and packaged separately OR
- Has recessed battery terminals that cannot contact metal objects
Prohibited Oxygen Equipment
- Liquid oxygen systems are strictly prohibited on all TUI Airways flights
- Oxygen equipment for recreational purposes (e.g., scuba diving) is not permitted
- Empty recreational oxygen cylinders may be transported as checked baggage
