Holidays to Hisaronu are set on the plateau of Mount Babadag. While the resort’s popular for its vibrant nightlife, it also serves as a gateway to the world-famous Blue Lagoon in Oludeniz, which is just a short bus ride away.
Wind back to 1990 and Hisaronu, nestled inland on Turkey’s southwest coast, was a quiet village. It began to develop as an overspill of nearby Olu Deniz, and is now a bustling destination in its own right. It’s full of bars and clubs that keep things pumping through the night, and it’s just a short dolmus ride from some of Turkey’s most jaw-dropping beaches.
Hisaronu doesn’t have its own beach but Olu Deniz is just four kilometres away – there’s a regular dolmus between the two. Along with the main beach, you also get the spectacular Blue Lagoon, a conservation area known for its sparkling azure water. You’ll find canoes and pedaloes on the waterfront, and plenty of cafés serving up drinks and snacks.
In Hisaronu, clubs and bars are clustered along the main street, and you’ll find a real mix – karaoke, foam parties, cabaret, drag acts, and more. You’ve also got more laidback bars for a quiet drink. And for more nightlife options, it’s just a short dolmus ride to Fethiye.
Fethiye is a 15-minute bus ride away and is well worth a visit for a taste of traditional Turkey. If you head to the old quarter, or Paspatur, you can explore cobbled streets, mosques, and a jumble of shops selling locally crafted ceramics, jewellery, leather goods and carpets. Then you can relax over a drink at the marina, overlooking the glittering yachts.
