Paguera holidays are pretty popular among party people. This lively Spanish resort in Majorca has everything you’d expect from a getaway to the Balearic Islands, from silky soft beaches to pulse-raising watersports.
Paguera sits on the south-west coast of Majorca. It’s a former fishing village, which tempts throngs of tourists with its vibrant promenade-front nightlife scene. Think chilled-out cocktail lounges, karaoke joints and live music venues. During the day, there’s lots to do, whether you fancy strolling up and down rows of shopping streets that run parallel to the shoreline, or want to take on the hilly wooden trails that make up the local Balearic mountain hiking routes.
You’ve got options when it’s time to tan. Paguera’s got a trio of beaches, which include Playa Palmira. This one sits in a horseshoe-shaped bay shelved by golden-sand shores and, like all three sunbathing spots, is backed by a tree-lined pedestrian promenade. Wander there to make the most of the beachfront dining options and refuel after a day of Mediterranean watersports – options include cave-diving, windsurfing and glass-bottom boat rides.
Like to do a daytrip while you’re away? Paguera’s in prime position for excursions to the Majorcan capital, as it’s just a 30-minute drive to Palma. There, you’ll find the Barri Gòtic or old town, where cobbled streets lead to the towering La Seu Cathedral, with its Gothic architecture. If art galleries are your thing, the Museum of Modern Art lines up a collection of paintings from all sorts of famous names, while the Juan March Museum has sections dedicated to Dali, Picasso and Miró. Palma Aquarium’s also nearby, for something different.
