Grand hotels, golden sands and volcanic landscapes — that’s what luxury holidays to Lanzarote are made of.
First-class beaches
Soft golden sands are Lanzarote’s calling card. You can fit the whole family on king-sized Playa Grande over at the Sixties beach resort of Puerto del Carmen. There’s another Blue Flag favourite at Playa Blanca — it’s backed by a promenade lined with cocktail bars.
Volcanic landscape
Timanfaya National Park showcases the volcanic roots of Lanzarote. In fact, it’s featured in a few sci-fi films and was even a moon buggy testing site. Hop on a coach, or take a camel ride, and you’ll discover an otherworldly moonscape of lava rock formations and calderas.
Puerto Calero and Costa Teguise
The harbour at Puerto Calero well deserves its ‘Millionaires’ Marina’ nickname. Million-euro yachts pack out the waters, and swanky waterfront restaurants set you up for a spot of lunch and celebrity-spotting in the sun. Costa Teguise has a number of boutique hotels to its name, too. Or for something really grand, try the Hotel Meliá Salinas. Spanish artist César Manrique designed the pool area.
