This is our third visit to the Monica and each time my wife and I have been well looked after by all the staff, especially reception and in the restaurant. The Monica is situated in an ideal position and once you have sorted out the street plan it is easy to find your way about nerja town. There is a one euro bus (linea 1) which starts and finishes almost outside the hotel, and if one stays on it one gets a complete tour of the town and surrounding residential areas which gives one some idea of how the town is laid out.another bonus is that directly across the road from the hotel are several cafes serving huge drinks at cheap cheap cheap prices, and two brandies constitutes half a bottle. The beds in the hotel are very comfortable and the rooms are well serviced daily. In the evening a stroll into the bustling town is a must and the shops, whilst very touristy are a real magnet. All in all we think the Monica is the ideal place to stay and we will be returning next year.More

Good food, friendly staff nice hotel
Our first time in Nerja and everything about the hotel was very good. This is an adults only hotel. We arrived in the late evening and were offered a glass of fizz while signing in, a nice touch especially at ten o'clock at night after our journey. We had a lovely room on the 6th floor with sea views and always well serviced. The dining room serves buffet breakfasts and dinners, with a wide choice of food, some cooked to order but all very enjoyable. Breakfast outside on the terrace was good and we chose the early dinner option which worked well for us.The hotel is about 15 minute walk to the centre of Nerja with a good choice of bars and which made for a pleasant evening stroll before returning to the hotel for the entertainment. The entertainers varied quite a lot but we did have three enjoyable evenings there. The restaurant and kitchen staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient making sure that the food was always nicely presented. A most enjoyable holiday in an area we had never been to before.More
Very good hotel
We sold our apartment in nerja after ten years and stayed in the Rui Monica for a few days to finalise legal matters. The room was excellent, immaculately clean, bright and airy with wonderful views of Torrecilla Beach. The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Most of the people staying were of a certain age on package holidays and didn't venture far from the hotel. Several I spoke to didn't realise there were so many things to do and see in Nerja. Perhaps the hotel should promote the town? Food was buffet style with two sittings. I would have preferred an option for a la carte. Bit of a scramble depending on the sitting but food OK, no better than that. In all I would recommend the hotel and it certainly is worth it's four stars. More
Wonderful staff put this hotel up to 5 star for us.
We were very pleased with our room, the size, cleanliness and amount of storage space, until we realised we could hear the water rushing like an express train through the column behind our bed every 5 minutes or so, whenever anyone flushed their loo! Thank goodness we were soon able to go to a quiet room, which was lovely as well as having evening sun on the balcony. Food was all excellent, apart from fried eggs, which were all burnt on the bottom and raw on the top. Miss out the eggs, and everything else was delicious. The chap cooking them most days was a little crazy too. Reception staff were extremely helpful with advice on how to use public transport etc. Occasional entertainment in the bar was 'OK'. As for Nerja, it was completely delightful, for gentle strolls or rather more strenuous walking, whatever one wishes for. Best of all, the weather last week, mid-November was so good I had to buy a swimming costume, not having packed one in the expectation of there being no need. The one I bought, from a charity shop, cost one euro!More
