Hotel Nerja Club

Made a last minute booking here for 3 night and it was very pleasant and felt we received value for what we paid. The beach is about a 10-15 minute walk downhill (obviously uphill on the return!). Good points:- - Javier on reception upon arrival couldn’t help us enough. Gave us local information and even offered to map our walking route on the Chillar River. - The sun deck and pool are very nice and plenty of sun beds and space available. - Food was good and the snack bar was quick and efficient. - 2 supermarkets 50 yards away. - Housekeeping staff do a wonderful job and are always smiling which is great. Could be better:- - The beds weren’t the most comfortable and the blankets aren’t ideal. - There is a kettle in the room but no tea/coffee/sugar which we found strange. - Drinks by the pool are quite expensive, especially soft drinks which are 4 times the price of the supermarket. - There was one dark haired girl working the restaurant and the snack bar the following day who was just plain rude. Chewing gum, grumpy, doesn’t talk and rolls her eyes. There’s just no need for it. Overall, a pleasant experience.

We have just returned from a really relaxing 2 week stay at this Hotel. I was concerned about certain aspects of the hotel after reading the reviews but had a more than pleasant surprise. Our room was large, with a balcony and views to die for. The rooms and all areas in the Hotel are kept immaculately clean. The food was excellent for a 3* Hotel at these prices. Special mention to the Chef. Yes, it's out of town but is walkable and the bus service is regular and stops immediately outside the hotel. 2 large supermarkets next door to get anything you need. 24hr Pharmacy 10 mins walk away. My only gripe (and this is nothing to do with the hotel/management who have put up notices ALL AROUND the pool) are the British reserving sunbeds. It was particularly bad the first week we were there due to a large Family of who apparently go to the hotel every year and seem to think this entitles them to have no thought to other guests. Every morning the men sat with towels waiting for the sunbeds to be unchained and reserved the whole front row of sunbeds, together with tables, parasols etc., they then went to breakfast and then went into town !. We watched this every morning. This territorial behaviour continued in the restaurant. They also had a stand up arguement about charging drinks to each others rooms, this was in a public area. When they returned home you could feel the atmosphere change and nobody else behaved in this way.This did not affect out holiday as we are not sunbathers or pool people. I did mention it to the TUI Rep and Manager but they didn't want to enforce the non reservation of sunbeds. We would definitely return here and it's excellent value for money. The TUI Rep is really good and very informed regarding the area. This is not a hotel for children and/or younger people as the average age is probably 65 yrs.
