The majority of the quarter sports an all-white colour scheme, and the mosaic-patterned cobbled lanes are home to cosy bars, family-run souvenir stores and rustic houses. There are a handful of churches dotted around the area, too – some of them date back to the 1500s. The petite public plazas, meanwhile, are where most of the action takes place. In the evenings, bistros and bars fill the squares with al fresco dining tables, transforming them into must-see social hubs.

Outside of the old town, The Strip in Albufeira is the main go-to spot if you’re looking to let loose. This main street in the town centre’s lined with cocktail lounges, nightclubs and discos, all of which switch on their neon lights after dark.
