Meta di Sorrento holidays come with a real bonus – a sandy beach, which is a rarity along the rocky Amalfi Coast.
You’ll find this laidback seafront town in a south-west corner of Italy. One of the best things about it is its sandy beach, something many of the neighbouring towns along the Amalfi Coast don’t have. This volcanic stretch of sand comes with all the trimmings, too. You can hire a boat, relax on a sunlounger, or grab lunch from a waterside bar.
For centuries, fishing has been big business in this harbour town. Seafood, delivered from port to plate in a matter of hours, is a staple dish alongside Italian classics like pizza and pasta. Try it for yourself at one of the restaurants carved into the cliffside, offering up jaw-dropping views across the bay.
Meta may be small, but its central location makes exploring really easy. Just a five-minute train ride lands you in the cobbled streets of sophisticated Sorrento, while picture-perfect Positano is a 30-minute drive away. Plus, the mighty Mount Vesuvius and the ancient ruins of Pompeii are about an hour away by car.
