Atlantica Eleon Grand Resort & Spa

We booked a holiday to this resort through TUI as a quite a last minute impulsive decision to go away to Greece. Overall the hotel was absolutely lovely, and an extremely enjoyable week away. The overall appearance was beautiful, and the place was always kept well cleaned and maintained. Our room near the main entrance, with a door down to the pool right by us - we got lucky there! We had a little patio area, however I didn't use this much as it's in line with the other room's patios so there's not much in the way of privacy outside. Other than occasionally having to ask for more milks in the room (me and my mum are avid coffee and tea drinkers), the room service was excellent. The 5 pools, other than being a bit cold until you got used to them, were lovely, we spent most of our time in the infinity pool as there were generally less children there. We went nearing the end of the season, so the hotel wasn't too busy, but you did have to get down by the pool earlyish if you wanted a sunbed around the pool. Even then, there were plenty of sunbeds in a grassy area and overlooking the beach and sea. The TUI reps were great as well, we attended one of the welcome meetings and booked 2 excursions through a young blond lad. The staff were very attentive, coming round asking if you wanted drinks and making sure you were satisfied with everything. I don't think I've ever drunk so many cocktails in a week! But good choice of drinks for all inclusive, and we couldn't fault the food, there was such a mass array of choice I didn't even know where to start, we definitely got our fill, and it was all lush tasting. They had a really good choice of vegetarian food too so I never felt stuck for choice. Although we didn't use it much, the snack bar by the pool was great as well for getting food when the restaurant was closed. Overall, very great value for money and a lovely place to stay; would definitely recommend to anyone considering going to this area.

Having read other peoples mixed reviews before travelling we initialy agree (sort of) with them all. Our stay here was a mix of everything relatively mediocre, other than the weather and the staff who were great whilst giving an impression that they were overworked. The hotel was full during our stay including a lot of children therefore it was not the quiet away from it all stay we really wanted but we cannot blame the hotel / resort for that as we did not realise that it was school half term in every part of the country (uk) except ours. This reflects the high level british staying at the resort. Our stay was also at a time when the summer holiday period was coming to a close and it gave off an air of can't wait to get off home. This was backed up by a lot of the 'local' restaurants, bars, shops etc., being closed although the resort location was quiet and remote anyway. The hotel / resort being from the TUI Platinum range and sells itself as 4 star - we feel both are incorrect as it is probably more of a Family Life type and at best 3 star. The hotel main building / restaurant / bars were kept clean and tidy, with cleaning take place all day, although it looked a little tired and needs some TLC. Our room, we were advised was a superior room, again at best it was standard in type with an older type bathroom (had bath/shower but no bidet or handrails), the room was kept clean daily. The room had a balcony but this had no privacy from adjacent rooms, so we did not really use it, and it had very tired furniture which needed replacing and very uncomfortable to sit on. The restaurant size did not match the occupancy of the hotel and after being open for 30 minutes there was always a queue to get in, this was partially matched by the amount of food available, although generally of good quality, popular food would disappear quickly with other food being over cooked by sitting in the 'bain maries' for longer periods of time this being more prevalent at breakfast so could be disappointing. We feel that the all inclusive element relating to drinks were also constantly underserved, to much ice etc., and you still had to pay for a 'decent' quality drink. The pool areas were also always busy, although there were small areas of pebbled beach which were difficult to walk on, again there did not seem to be enough sunbeds for the occupancy of the resort. A lot of the sunbeds and umbrellas were in a poor state of repair. The cleaning of the pool areas left a lot to be desired with patches of standing water in some areas although this did show up the colour that the floor tiling should be (white) and not the grey it actually was everywhere. Again although there were 5 pools they all always seemed to full of children and very little space for a nice quiet sit or swim. Having said all the above we did enjoy our stay but it is not somewhere we would return to.

Check in was good and friendly as my wife managed to get in 1st. (was a coachload) The room We had requested a ground floor room which we were given. Room was a junior suite which was large and looked out onto the bottom pool. The room did smell damp and did feel damp for the week we were there. This could be due to the bathrooms being at the rear of the apartment and having no ventiliation. Lots of wardrobe space and a free safe to use. The bed was huge king size bed and not 2 singles pushed together. We also had a sofa, tv coffee and tea etc. The main shower was good although the floor did take a while to drain. We had a jacuzzi bath in the main bathroom but did not use it. There was plenty of towels and gels etc throughout our stay. The restaurant Great choice for all meals and good full english breakfast if you wanted. The choice we found great and far superior to a 5* hotel we had been in Turkey the previous holiday. All meals were cooked well and replenished and never running out. Lots of salad options etc. Good staff very attentive and no waiting for drinks or plates to be cleared. The pool We used te bottome pool near our room and it had steps to walk into it for anyone with difficulties with steps. The sunbeds are comfy and there are quite a few but not enough, however there are plenty in the olive groves and around the slides pool. The lifeguard did remove towels if people reserved them and wandered off which is great and people only did it once. Was fun to watch. Wish every hotel did this as it stopped beds being reserved for hours on end. I am an early riser and did get the area I wanted daily but it did fill up around 9am. The waiting staff around the pool were great and remembered your drinks and sometimes came over with some before you asked. They made our week as nothing was to much trouble and the main 2 were chatty and good at what they do. The snack bar was fine. Offered Toasties, Burgers, chips, fruit salads, Pasta, hot dogs etc to order. The bar staff were quick to serve if you did go yourself. There were wasps hanging around the bar area which they should put up things to deter them. Each day they would set up a food table around the pool. Once day doughnuts, one day souvlaki, ice creams etc. The entertainment team did well trying to get people involved and using the microphone to tell you what is going on etc. They did a great job and the music they played (not too loud) was varied and we as a couple enjoyed the musice and the entertainment team. The main bar There are plenty of seats inside and out with a great view out to sea. Again the same waiters were very good. Probably one the best hotels we have been to for service and with a smile. Yes the main man behind the bar did not smile which I found funny. Surely if he smiled and chatted his day would go a lot better for him. The spa I had a massage which was ok. Not the worst and not the best I have had. Not much negotiation can be done on price. Nice spa though. The entertainment stage Only went up twice and the outside shows we watched were ok and typical all inclusive hotel entertainment. We preferred the main hotel area. Things to do. We got a taxi into the local town a few times for a change. These always took around 10 minutes at least to arrive and sometimes one would pick people up and then the same one would return for us later. Some were ok and one we had made us nervous. He had a tub of pringles in one hand also holding the wheel and his mobile talking away in his other. Not really in control. The local town we enjoyed. Yes it was quiet as end of season but still enough choice of bars and restaurants were open. Taxi was €8 each way. The only downsides to the hotel were the local area nothing to walk too, The toilets non near the pools (we were lucky our room was besides the pool), Our room had a damp smell. For what we paid it was great value and for anyone wanting a relaxing week it wuld be great.
