You set the pace on holidays to Psarou. Like a miniature Mykonos Town, this resort offers chic bars and restaurants, high-end boutiques, and a flawless sandy beach.
Psarou is nestled between two bottle-green headlands on Mykonos’ south coast. The place overlooks a big, turquoise bay, which is criss-crossed by jet skis and pedalos in the summer months, and fringed by a belt of golden sand.
Beyond the town’s beach, there’s a myriad of cobbled lanes and palm-fringed roads to wander down. They’re flushed with restaurants, cocktail bars and fashion boutiques – all of which are housed in the same sugar cube-style buildings. Vines and bougainvillea flowers envelop the balconies and window shutters, and the floors are peppered with chalk boards listing fish-of-the-day.
Psarou is a good launch pad for the rest of the island. If you want more in the way of nightlife, bubbly Plati Yialos is just 5 minutes’ drive away. You can reach the capital, Mykonos Town, in around 10 minutes, too. This stylish mini-city is great for celebrity-spotting – everyone from Madonna to the Kardashians have graced its bars in recent years.
