An escape from city life

This little village on Skiathos’s south coast is a place of narrow, winding streets, whitewashed villas and geraniums spilling from terracotta pots. The surrounding countryside is just as beautiful – think green hills dotted with pine trees and olive groves. And when you’re ready to see some action, the island capital, Skiathos Town, is just 8 kilometres down the road.

One of the island’s best beaches

With its turquoise sea and soft, golden sands, the beach here is considered one of the best on Skiathos. The calm waters of the sheltered bay are clear and warm. And when you emerge from those, you’ll find a clutch of beach bars offering up drinks and snacks, as well as 2 tavernas and a minimart. When you fancy a change, you’ve got 3 other beaches within easy walking distance, too.

Near Skiathos Town

There are regular buses along the coast road to Skiathos Town, where you’ll find a busy marina that’s lined with cafés and restaurants. Above this sit the older, hillier parts of town. You can take a guided walk around their cobbled streets, which are home to several churches worth a look – or simply check out the boutiques. Back at the port, meanwhile, you’ll find several companies offering boat trips.
