View All DealsHolidays to Katelios take you to a charming fishing village in Kefalonia, where you can embrace traditional Greek life. Plus, it's within easy reach of the island's bigger towns.
You can skip the crowds at this quiet, traditional fishing village on Kefalonia’s southern coast. It’s a pretty place, with just a couple of beaches, a little harbour and a smattering of shops and high-quality tavernas. It’s all about recharging and rejuvenating here, but when you want more action, lively Skala is just a 10-minute drive away.
Agia Varvara, the main beach, is a tranquil sand-and-shingle number backed by pine trees, eucalyptus and rose bushes. There's a gaggle of restaurants on the seafront, and you can rent loungers and umbrellas. You’ve also got Agia Barbara, the village’s second beach, within a few minutes’ walk. Mounda Beach, meanwhile, is mostly undisturbed, so it's the ideal sunbathing spot for some peace and quiet. You can get there in a 15-minute drive from Katelios.
There are twice-daily buses to Argostoli, the island's capital, which is 32 kilometres away. There's plenty to explore in this authentic Greek town, including an archaeological museum and an old theatre. Most of the action happens around the main square, where you’ll find bars, shops and tavernas. There’s also a pretty, palm-lined prom with views over the famous 19th-century Drapanos Bridge.
