Neos Marmaras is one of Halkidiki’s most vibrant towns. It’s got all the traditional charms you’d expect in Greece – like beautiful beaches and tavernas dishing up fresh-from-the-net fish. It’s not all in the slow lane, though. This place also racks up lots of bars, restaurants and shops.

Blue Flag beaches

Over 20 kilometres of sun-drenched sand edges this town, and it’s Blue Flag all the way around. Beach bars and shop-strewn promenades line some of the busier areas, while the tiny coves and hideaway bays which fleck the coastline are all about the peace and quiet.

Best mountains for hiking in Halkidiki

Many tourists head to Halkidiki for its beaches, but there’s a lot of hiking to be done, too. Neos Marmaras is a great base if you want to hike up Mount Itamos – the highest peak on Sithonia. Get to the top and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Mount Athos to the east and Mount Olympus in the west.
