The five-kilometre-long beach is a real attention-grabber. Families tend to collect on Sun Beach, where there’s a children’s lido and plenty of sunloungers. Potamos Beach, meanwhile, is a hit with local families. One of the more well-kept secrets of Malia is the pint-sized old town.

Travel Crete

Malia takes a seat in the middle of the northern coast of Crete, so you’re in a top spot for exploring one of the biggest islands in Greece. Families make a beeline for Watercity waterpark, where adrenalin-spiking slides knock shoulders with tot-friendly splash pools. The historic island capital of Heraklion is less than an hour’s drive away, too.
