Family Holidays

Cavtat, Croatia

Mlini holidays base you in a coastal village by a scalloped bay on the Dubrovnik Riviera. There’s a tranquil atmosphere here, so it’s ideal if you’re after a traditional Croatian retreat that’s still within easy reach of the Pearl of the Adriatic.

How far is Mlini from Dubrovnik?

A 20-minute drive or bus ride is all that separates this sleepy Dalmatian village from history-stuffed Dubrovnik. That means you’ll have a super short transfer time if you fly into Dubrovnik Airport, too. Being so close to the city means you get all the benefits of its shops, eateries and sights, while getting to retreat back to the peace and quiet of a historical fishing village on the Dubrovnik Riviera.

Beaches in Mlini

With its combo of pine-covered mountains, sun-bleached stone buildings and the jade-green waters of the Adriatic Sea, Mlini will have you reaching for your camera every five minutes. The beaches here are mainly pebbly coves along the shoreline, so you won’t need to worry about shaking sand out of your shoes at the end of your sunbathing sessions. And for more crystal-clear water, you can hop on a boat trip to the nearby Elaphiti Islands.

Seafront restaurants

Mlini’s separated from the Adriatic by a seafront promenade, which doubles up as a walking route to the nearby Srebreno village. Here, traditional Croatian tavernas called konobas dish up fresh seafood and other equally tasty Mediterranean cuisine, and some even come with views of Mlini harbour.

Historical watermills

Back in the day, the river that runs through Mlini was dotted with watermills. Few still stand today, but the ones that have stood the test of time make great photography spots that are popular with locals and tourists alike. The landscape around here is a hit with nature lovers, too. You can see natural springs, river streams and plenty of local wildlife on your walks. Or, for a change of scenery, take the 10-minute ferry to Cavtat, or hop on a boat to Lokrum for a taste of uninhabited island life.
