Mlini holidays

Cavtat, Croatia

Holidays to Mlini put you in a quiet, good-looking corner of Croatia, where you have easy access to the terracotta town of Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik’s quiet neighbour

A one-time fishing village, Mlini rubs shoulders with historical Dubrovnik. You’ll find it at the crest of the bay that’s halfway between the city and its airport. Getting into the heart of Dubrovnik is easy. Buses run every half-hour and the journey only takes 20 minutes.

Rugged good looks

Mlini gets kudos for the type of postcard-perfect views this part of Croatia does so well. In one direction you’ve got the green and grey of the pine-covered mountains. In the other, jade-green waters lap against the pretty, pebbly coves that cluster along the shoreline.

Dinner by the sea

A seafront promenade separates the village from the Sea. It stretches all the way to the neighbouring village, Srebreno, with friendly tavernas checkpointing the route. Known to locals as konobas, they let you tuck into just-caught seafood in view of the ocean.

A history lesson

Mlini’s name refers back to the days when watermills were abundant along the river that carves its way through the village. A few of the mills still stand today, attracting keen photographers, as well as flocks of ducks who’ve set up camp in the streams.
