The world’s most Instagrammable locations

Discover the most Instagrammable holiday destinations.
See it. Snap it. Gram it. We're always on the lookout for photo-ready scenery for our social media accounts. And, as travel isn't on the cards right now, we've put together a list of the most photogenic locations in the world for your next trip. Some offer up irresistible selfie opportunities, and others boast ready-made cityscapes that’ll cause a serious case of double-tapping. Ready to get scrolling? Likes, camera, action…

#NOFILTERNEEDED IN NEW YORK

It’s no wonder New York’s one of the most Instagrammed locations in the world. Its bright lights and big city vibe make it a regular on #POTD. In Times Square, day or night, you can add a backdrop of colour to your Instagram feed, and take advantage of yellow taxis – probably the most authentic photo props you’ll find. After something beyond the tourist trail? Snap the retro-tiled signs inside of subway stations. Way prettier than Paddington. And, if you’re keen for a selfie beside the ultimate poser, you’ll find the Statue of Liberty is always obliging.

Best for…
Selfies: Brooklyn Bridge at sunset
Hipster vibes: Chelsea Market or Downtown Dumbo
Cityscapes: Top of the Flat Iron Tower (the world’s thinnest building)
Insta fame: Mott Street’s Love Wall
Christmas shots: Bryant Park’s ice rink

#GLACIERGOALS IN ICELAND

The land of fire and ice has always drawn in the likes, and you don't need to look too closely to see why. Put stars in your eyes with shots of Iceland’s northern lights, and get filter-familiar with panoramas of stunning glaciers. Or, say cheers in the ice bars and warm up with hot chocolates inside an igloo – you can't get much more authentic than that. Spa day selfies reach a new level with mud masks at the Blue Lagoon, and Reykjavik offers up serious must-snap street style, too. If you want Iceland’s ‘money’ shot, aka the northern lights, head there between September and March.

Best for…
Boomerang: The Strokkur glacier, catch an eruption every 6-10 minutes
Face-mask selfies: Blue Lagoon
Photo envy: The northern lights
Panoramic views: View from the top of Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik
Other-world shots: Gullfoss Waterfall

#TEAOFTHEDAY IN SRI LANKA

The bright green tea plantations of Sri Lanka’s Nuwara Eliya are enough to make anyone stop mid-scroll. But that’s just one part – this is a country bursting with colour. Summer trips mean parades of elephants marching through Kandy, and climbing to the top of Sigiriya Rock to get views for days. Plus, photos of a fortress that’ll look ancient without a filter.

Best for…
Harry Potter style bridges: Ella’s nine arch bridge
Temple chic posing: Kandy’s Temple of the Tooth
Monkeys on the beach: Negombo
Panoramic views: Sigiriya Rock

#COUPLEGOALS IN SANTORINI

If Santorini was an emoji, it’d be the face with heart eyes. Grab your partner and be romanced by the island’s sweet, sugarcube towns and fall head over heels for its heart-breaking sunsets. Take a donkey ride up to the top of Thira to watch the tangerine-coloured sunset, or take some time out from photographing every inch of the stunning island on the black sands of Kamari Beach. It would look great in a pic, though…

Best for…
Cute-factor: Donkey rides to ancient Thira
Sunset shots: Santo Wines in Oia
Cliffside villages: Firostefani – hanging off a volcanic crater
Quirky beaches: Volcanic sands of Kamari
Hipster vibes: Atlantis bookshop

#GAMEOFTHRONES IN CROATIA

We’ve all fawned over Croatia thanks to Game of Thrones. But it looks even better in real life – and on your Insta feed. An endless sea of orange rooftops, ancient cobbled towns and secret bars make this place a snappers’ paradise. And there are loads of parts to explore, too. Ride high above Dubrovnik in a cable car, do your most dramatic pose in Pula’s amphitheatre or sail between forest-covered islands in Vrsar. Nobody wants seen-it-before pics, do they?

Best for…
‘Views for days’ shot: Cable car rides in Dubrovnik
Sea of red rooftops: Hvar’s Spanish Fortress
Dramatic waterfalls: Plitvice Lakes National Park
Secret hipster bars: Buza Bar, accessed by a hidden door in Dubrovnik’s city walls
GoT shots: Dubrovnik Old Town’s city walls
