Kalim Beach holidays

Kalim beach, Phuket

Seafront fine dining, luxury hillside villas and trips to lively Patong sum up holidays to Kalim Beach.

Luxury living

Kalim Beach – Patong’s quiet neighbour – is known for its villa-dotted hillsides and waterfront fine dining. The restaurants sit high in the hills overlooking the sea, and the menus range from Thai classics to international favourites, all with an elegant twist. For something more casual, head to the shore – in the evening, carts park up by the sand to sell Thailand’s renowned street food. Think everything from roti pancakes to noodle soup. You can eat at a foldout table or sit on the sea wall and watch the sunset.

Sealife-spotting

Kalim centres around a secluded bay that’s made up mostly of rocks and coral reefs – so if you go into the sea, it’s best to wear your water shoes. Here, activities like swimming and watersports are swapped for rock pooling and crabbing – keep your eyes peeled for sea cucumbers, starfish and colourful shells. For swimming, head to Patong Beach, where a two-mile-long stretch offers watersports like jet-skiing, parasailing and windsurfing.

Pop to Patong

Kalim Beach gives you a peaceful plot, but you’re only a half-an-hour walk away or an even quicker tuk tuk ride from one of Phuket’s bubbliest names on the island, Patong. In the town centre you’ve got big malls and street food stalls for shopping, and buzzy beach bars. After dark, Bangla Road is the place to be – you can grab a drink at over a hundred bars. Or, for a bit of culture, you can watch Muay Thai fights at the Bangla Boxing Stadium.
