The next-door Double Six Beach, meanwhile, boasts a few watersports centres – surfing’s really popular in this part of Bali.

Ubud is known as Bali’s culture capital, thanks to its ample supply of art galleries and traditional Balinese music scene. However, despite all the gamelan melodies that fill the air around the town, Ubud also boasts a modern side, especially when it comes to architecture and cuisine. Most of the up-to-date buildings in Ubud are all about eco-friendliness, while the restaurant scene’s stocked with fusion eateries that blend Indonesian flavours with international influences.
