Our last minute holidays to Egypt pull out a hat-trick of sun, sea and sand, and then top it off with ancient pyramids and Nile cruises.
Diving the Red Sea
The Red Sea is home to shoals of tropical fish, as well as manta rays, barracudas and green turtles. Most hotels have a dive school with instructors who’ll help you get your bearings. The Rad Mohammed National Park is just an hour away from Sharm El Sheikh by boat. You can get up close to over 1,000 types of fish at Shark Reef and Anemone City.
Super-sized temples
It took 1,300 years to get the Temple of Karnok in Luxor exactly right — and it’s still in surprisingly good nick today. This massive monument is a mix of temples, sanctuaries and chapels. Day trips to Cairo also take in the Giza pyramids. They’re the only Ancient Wonder of the World still around today.
