    When we finally arrived after a 2 hour transfer from the airport we were pleasantly surprised by the location of the hotel. Right on a beach which cannot be reached by boat due to the coral reef. Felt safe for the kids to swim in the bay. Lots of free water sports and entertainment all bookable via their free app. The WiFi was quite good as it was free, not fast enough to download films, but good enough for SM and news. Food was excellent. Especially breakfast with tonnes of choice and many healthy options. The kids loved the ice cream from the Whippy machines where you help yourself. It’s more like sorbet, but still delicious and varied. We didn’t get involved with evening entertainment as our kids are small. But daytime stuff looked good. All pools & beach have lifeguards on duty in the day. You can hire masks and flippers to try snorkelling along the coral reef. The local dive school are great for more adventurous folk. We loved the varied food on offer at all the different outlets, if you get bored just try a different pool or beach bar and you may find something you like more. My only complaint would be the trip we were sold by the rep was sold as ‘a 30 minute transfer to the marina’ when in fact it took close to 2 hours and cut down our time on the water. The trip was fine and the boat excellent quality, however if we’d known we needed such a long transfer, we wouldn’t have bothered. Also, we had a lovely massage in the spa at the hotel on the first day. When we came back we found the amount we’d been charged was much more than we’d been quoted by the pool, so just check your receipt and what currency you’re paying for things with.

    We came here December 13th for 2 weeks we could not fault it at all the check in was quick we was in room 141215 we could see the pool with the slides and a slight sea view we was very happy with the room and Mohammed the boy who cleaned our room was very pleasant,the food we could not fault there was so much choice and lots of bars to get a drink at any time ,all the staff were very pleasant and the hotel should be proud of them my husband done most of the water sports and got his windsurfing license so thank you to the water sports team . You must do snorkelling of the jetty it is fantastic saw so many different fish some very large and on the day before we came home a dolphin came in to the end of the jetty it was amazing. Check out was easy and not only did they have a luggage room they had a locker you could put your hand luggage in with important documents in so as our flight was late we could just have the day as we would fave normally. We done the outdoor cinema which was fun , I could carry on and on but I won’t we had a fantastic time and hope to go back again the same time this year . Just one thing yes the security was very strict at hurgharda airport but it is only for our safety .
    Decent enough hotel

    Read the reviews about the hotel focusing on non english guests and yes whilst this is the case, i never found it to be an issue. We met many English guests around the pool and at dinner time and i would say that there was a fair amount of "us brits" so didnt find this a problem. The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly. Food was decent for an all inclusive (i've had far worse). I can't find many faults tbh. My 4yr old loved the pools and the slides. He did get ill whilst here and we saw the on site Doctor who was very nice and accomodating. This can be a stressful thing to do abroad but he made the process nice and easy for us even filling in the claim forms. Overall, my family and I had a pleasent stay here but i wouldn't return only because i'd like to be somewhere less remote. But this is no fault of the hotel as one of its best features is the lagoon and coral which are both beautiful.

    Right from the moment you arrive you feel like everyone cares. The check-in is seamless, they allow you get something to eat before going to the rooms if the restaurant is closing shortly. The rooms are are spacious, clean with good air conditioning, the room boys are so efficient, ours was Amr Ali who was extremely good and proactive Food is really, really good, the main restaurant has everything however if you fancy something different the next day just ask and the chefs are pleased to help. We liked Al Baccio restaurant with first class service from Alaa Ahmed, Mohammed, Downtown with Walid, and his crew who also operate the coffee house with the excellent Sunday picnics, the ever smiling Sharif Eltfshan takes a great photo, it seems a little unfair to single out particular staff when they all work so hard. House keeping and the restaurant are deadly serious when they ask you if they can help or if you need anything. Make a suggestion and it will happen. The beach is well kept and clean, gardens are beautiful, the beach bar service is spot on and the beach waiters (in our case Tamer) work so hard all day. Seating areas in lobby, terrace and bar areas are really comfortable. The excellent Tiger and his boys are absolutely tireless and quite rightly proud of their efforts, Mustafa is a gem. Animation couldn't be more friendly and hardworking, the shows are really good, the fitness classes are professional and bang up to date with current trends. We keep thinking that we we should try somewhere else next year but are afraid of being disappointed.
    Another magical life

    Just returned from a week in magic life kalawy. The winter program is very similar to summer just quieter. Having stayed at many cml hotels in summer we thought we would get a bit of winter sun. The first few days we could not work out what was missing. Then it clicked it did not have the atmosphere of the summer months. We put this down to the fact that the majority of guests were over 50s germans that wanted a quieter time. Luckily there was still enough to get a bit of atmosphere in area outside amphitheatre. Lobby terrace a bit too subdued. The Hotel its self is excellent. The food was the best out of all the magic life hotels. Drink quality was not as good as the others though. Waiters were brilliant, All staff in hotel were friendly and helpful a credit to cml. Special mention to Alex ( tennis coach) serhii (archery instructor ) and Roxanna (dancer) for helping us have a fantastic time. Definitely recommended at anytime of year.
