Food And Dining Onboard

With a variety of bars and restaurants on our ships, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to mealtimes.

It’s all about choice with TUI River Cruises. All five of our ships are set up for laidback lunches, romantic dinners and nights spent watching live music.

Our menus are inspired by seasonal produce in our many cruise destinations, with lots of the ingredients sourced locally where possible. And on the drinks front, you’ve got a variety of beers and handpicked wines to choose from.

TUI Isla, TUI Maya and TUI Skyla all double up on restaurants and bars. At mealtimes, there’s the elegant Verdastro restaurant and our more casual Bistro. There are ever-changing menus, with plenty of local dishes to try. And for drinks, make your way to either the Observatory, which comes with panoramic widescreen windows, or the Club Lounge, where coffees and cocktails are the headliners.

On TUI Al Horeya, meanwhile, there’s the main restaurant, Sofra, plus an al fresco dining area on the top deck called Felluca, which is open for light bites at lunchtime and evening meals. There’s tea, coffee and cake served up here every afternoon, as well. And for evening drinks, you can head to the Observatory Lounge, where nightly entertainment takes place.

As for TUI Alma, you’ve got three places to pick from when it comes to mealtimes. Sorriso's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while evening meals are also available at the al fresco spot, Vinha, which focuses on local dishes. You can also enjoy self-serve lunches from Cinder, on the top deck, while Novo Lounge is the place to head for evening drinks.

We’re all about flexibility, so there are no set dining times on our ships – you can sit down to eat any time during service.

What’s the food & drink like on our Western and Central European cruises?

Take a closer look at the dining options available on TUI Isla, TUI Skyla and TUI Maya.

Western and Central European cruises

Both of our restaurants plate up a mix of buffet and à la carte options on TUI Isla, TUI Skyla and TUI Maya, while drinks are taken care of in our two bars – the Observatory and the Club Lounge.

Our elegant main restaurant serves all three meals. The daily changing menu shines a spotlight on local flavours, so you can get a taste for the region you’re in while you’re onboard. The produce is sourced locally, and we focus on what’s in season. Plus, there’s a six-course gala dinner once per cruise.

Things are a little more casual in Bistro, our second restaurant. And, like Verdastro, it’s open for all three meals.

Opening times:

  • Breakfast: 7am to 9am

  • Lunch: 12.30pm to 2pm or 12pm to 1.30pm, depending on shore experiences

What food can I expect onboard?

Our menus are inspired by local and seasonal produce in lots of our cruise destinations. Check out one of our example menus by clicking the link below.

This lounge takes pride of place at the heart of TUI Isla, TUI Skyla and TUI Maya. As with all our venues, you can expect widescreen windows for admiring the panoramic views. You can get an even better look from the outdoor terrace, though. There’s a daily happy hour with complimentary canapés. After dark, Observatory hosts the nightly entertainment, which ranges from onboard musicians to comedy shows.

Opening times: 10am to 1am. All Inclusive finishes at midnight.

Club lounge

Whether you’re after a cappuccino or a cocktail, the Club Lounge has got you covered. Plush chairs, brass fittings and mirrored tables set a sophisticated scene. By day, you can sip a premium Lavazza coffee* while taking in the views. At night, you can clink pre-dinner cocktails* in front of a roaring digital fireplace, before heading to one of the restaurants.

Opening times: 11am to 1am. All Inclusive finishes at midnight.

*Lavazza coffee and cocktails aren’t included as part of the Full Board Plus package. You’ll need to either pay extra, or upgrade to the All Inclusive package.

Portugal cruises

There are three dining venues to choose from on TUI Alma, including a pair of al fresco spots. One of them – Cinder – doubles up as a bar, and there are another couple of watering holes for drinks, as well.

Just so you know, the below images are for illustrative purposes only and the final design and decor may differ slightly.

This bright, modern space is the main restaurant on TUI Alma, and it’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a mix of buffet and à la carte options.

This bar and dining area is on TUI Alma’s top deck, and it’s open daily for drinks and self-serve lunches from the grill. Barbecue lunches are laid on from time to time, as well.

This al fresco restaurant’s open in the evenings for dinner, with full waiter service. Local dishes are the focus on the menu, while the restaurant’s design is based on the Douro Valley’s colourful landscape.

Novo Lounge

This light and modern space is TUI Alma’s main bar. There’s nightly entertainment on the cards here, which ranges from live music to interactive quizzes, plus daytime activities like craft workshops and escape experiences.

The Retreat

During the day, this place is filled with exercise equipment and there’s a space for wellness classes. By night though, it’s transformed into a cosy and intimate lounge bar for post-dinner cocktails and quiet drinks.

Egypt cruises

It’s an All Inclusive setup on TUI Al Horeya, so all your food and drink’s part of the package at the two bars, the main restaurant and the al fresco dining area.

Full Board or All Inclusive?

Full Board

TUI Isla, TUI Maya, TUI Skyla and TUI Alma are Full Board Plus as standard, which means you get tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine or beer with meals. There’s the option of house white, red, or rose wine at lunch and dinner, or you can try the specially selected wine from the region at dinnertime. Any other drinks need to be paid for, or you can upgrade to All Inclusive.

All Inclusive

TUI Al Horeya is All Inclusive as standard, so all of your food and drink is part of the package. If you’re sailing on any of our other ships, going All Inclusive means you’ll get a wider selection of drinks included on your cruise, like draft beers, branded spirits, cocktails and premium Lavazza coffee. For select cabins, your minibar will be part of the package, too. You can add All Inclusive when booking your TUI River Cruises sailing, or after you’ve booked by calling 0203 451 2688. You can also upgrade at Reception during your holiday. Upgrades are per cabin, not per guest.

What’s the dress code onboard?

There is a dress code onboard our TUI River Cruises sailings – it’s smart-casual. During the day, the rules are quite relaxed, however beachwear can’t be worn in the restaurants. In the evenings, the dress code is smarter. Men will need to wear long trousers or smart tailored shorts, a shirt or polo shirt and closed shoes. There's the opportunity to get dressed up for our six-course gala dinner on sailings of five nights or more, but there's no requirement to do so.

Are there set dining times?

No – all our food and drink venues offer flexible dining times, so you’re free to dine at your own pace during service.

Are there tea and coffee-making facilities?

Yes. Make yourself a cuppa in the self-service station in the atrium, or in your cabin – each one has tea and coffee-making facilities.

Are dietary requirements catered for?

Yes. Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and diabetic-friendly meals are available on request in both of our restaurants. If you have a dietary requirement, please let our Customer Welfare Team know on 0203 451 2688 when booking your trip. Then, once you're onboard, you can meet with the Maître D' to discuss your requirements further.

Can you still use All Inclusive on the last day of the cruise?

Yes. All Inclusive is available up until you leave the ship to go home.

What are the All Inclusive times?

Our All Inclusive package is available from 10am until midnight every day of your TUI River Cruise.

Is there a gala dinner?

We don't have a formal night on TUI River Cruises. However, you’re welcome to get all dressed up for our gala dinner, which takes place once per cruise on sailings of five nights or more. There’s no requirement to do so, though, and you’re welcome to still go smart-casual.
