Diving into the local culture, meeting the people that live in your holiday destination, sampling their food and exploring nearby ecosystems – we know that’s a side to travel that creates some unforgettable holiday moments. And, to help you find outings that tick these boxes, we’ve created our Green & Fair experiences label. Every activity you see sporting this green-leaf tag lets you uncover a culture-rich side to your holiday, while also taking a few extra steps to ensure the local community is positively impacted and the environment is supported. So, let’s take a look at the ins and outs of Green & Fair experiences…
When you’re all clued up, take a look at our full range of TUI Collection experiences
To earn our Green & Fair label, an experience must prove to us that it has a positive impact on the local community and keeps its environmental impact to a minimum. Every experience is vetted by TUI, using the criteria set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The GSTC Criteria is regarded as a leading standard for sustainability practices worldwide, and an independent organisation has given our vetting process the OK that it meets the criteria. If an experience passes this vetting, based on these high standards, it’ll be designated with a Green & Fair label. This makes it super easy for you to spot which experiences in our line-up are going the extra mile for the planet.

Saona Island, off the south-east coast of the Dominican Republic, is a protected nature reserve that’s home to wallpaper-worthy beaches, a traditional fishing village and over 112 bird species, including brown pelicans. You can get a glimpse at all of it during this Green & Fair experience, which is led by a local who knows the place like the back of their hand. Throughout the day, you’ll learn about the wildlife that’s protected in the national park, in between sessions of swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. Plus, you’ll sample a selection of Dominican dishes during lunch overlooking the sea.

You’ll head into Antalya’s countryside and up into the Taurus Mountains with a local guide to Ahmetler Canyon, known in the surrounding area as Aladdin’s Canyon. Throughout the adventure, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to try swimming, diving and, if you’re feeling brave, cliff jumping. What’s more, you’ll also be treated to a traditional Turkish barbecue for lunch.

If you’re planning a beach break to Majorca, in the Balearic Islands, then this Green & Fair experience is a great way of exploring the island’s rural side. An expert local guide will take you around a few of Majorca’s laidback hillside villages, including Valldemossa, the highest hamlet on the island. The main attraction here is the 12th-century monastery, where you’ll have plenty of time to wander around during some free time. The top-class views don’t end there, either. As part of this Green & Fair experience, you’ll also enjoy a scenic drive through the UNESCO-protected Serra de Tramuntana Mountains. At nearly 1,500 metres tall, they’re the highest peaks in the Balearic Islands.
