6. See the fairytale city of Colmar - France

Just a quick 45-minute drive from Breisach, the Colmar City Tour whisks you away to a place that's straight out of a fairytale. This four-hour tour lets you explore the old town believed to have inspired Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and you'll quickly see why! As you make your way through the town you’ll see pastel-painted timbered buildings and window boxes overflowing with flowers. Get ready to explore the old merchants' quarter as that’s on the cards too. The colours of the houses here once revealed the type of business – blue for fishermen and white for tanners. Plus, after your tour, you'll have a whole hour of free time to sip local Alsace wine at a cosy cellar or bar. Sound good? The Colmar City Tour Experience is available on our river cruises along the Rhine.

7. Soar above Luxor’s ancient sites – Egypt

Calling all history lovers... From souks to tombs, the ancient sights of Luxor are up there with Egypt’s greats. It’s nicknamed “the world’s open-air museum” for good reason. You’ll find everything from the Temple of Hatshepsut to the Valley of Kings here. The best way to take it all in? From a hot air balloon, of course. You’ll start with a motorboat crossing to the Nile’s West Bank, where you’ll meet your pilot, crew and other passengers. Once airborne, you’ll glide above the Valley of the Kings (where the most recognisable pharaoh Tutankhamun’s buried) and the Temple of Hatshepsut – how cool is that? Your flight lasts about 45 minutes, but if the air temperature’s OK, you could get even longer to soak up the sweeping views. You’ll find the Luxor hot air balloon experience onboard our Legends of the Nile itinerary.
